LC-Tec was established in 1988 to manufacture production equipment and develop new applications in the area of LCD technology. These were based on the technology that Dr. Åke Hörnell had developed for auto darkening welding-filter.
The company has been manufacturing and supplying advanced optical shutters and displays since year 2000 with complete in-house STN-manufacturing facilities in Sweden. In 2006, the company started its Asian business activities, with its own back-end production in China. The company is listed on the Swedish stock market, NGM MTF.
